A review of manning scales for the various types of school was carried out during 1962-63. Arising out of this exercise, it was found that certain adjustments could be made to the numbers of posts in various grades. As a combined result of these adjustments and of the necessity to provide for new schools which it is expected will be opened in 1963-64, the following additional posts have been included—

19 Masters/Mistresses

20 Assistant Education Officers

73 Senior Assistant Masters/Mistresses and Assistant Masters/Mistresses

125 Primary School Masters/Mistresses

2 Education Officers, female/Mistresses/Overseas Qualified Mistresses (non-pensionable)

and the following existing posts deleted—

36 Education Officers

129 Certificated Masters/Mistresses

Education Officers (Technical)/Masters (Technical)/ Assistant Education Officers (Technical) 1 Senior Assistant Master/Mistress (Technical), Assistant Master/Mistress (Technical) and

Technical Teacher

Two additional posts of Education Officer are provided for secondment to the Training Unit in the Colonial Secretariat. Other increases in staff are provided to meet the continuing expansion of the facilities of the Department.

Other Charges Annually Recurrent show a net increase of $281,600. This reflects the continuing expansion of educational facilities, the main items of increase being in respect of Examinations, Allowances for Evening Classes and general administrative expenses arising from the expansion.
