The additional post of Clerk is required to handle the increasing volume of work.
Under Supernumerary Staff, two new posts of Clerk are required for law revision. One new post of Legal Officer (Pupil) was approved by Special Warrant during the year for an officer who has qualified as a solicitor to gain legal experience. One existing Legal Officer (Pupil) post has been deleted consequent upon the holder's appointment to the post of Crown Counsel during the year.
Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent, the marked increase in the provision for Legal expenses is mainly due to increased activities in the Civil Litigation Section of the department.
