A new post of Assistant Medical Defence Staff Officer has been created to cope with increased work and to provide relief for the Medical Defence Staff Officer when the latter goes on leave this year. On his return from leave one post of Confidential Assistant will be deleted.

The increased provisions in the Pay and Allowances and the Uniforms and Accoutrements sub- heads reflect greater activity planned in the training programme. The additional funds included in the Stores and Equipment vote are required for the replacement of emergency stores which have deteriorated in storage.

One additional post of Clerk is required for a sub-office to be opened in the Training Centre. Argyle Street, Kowloon. One extra post of Typist is required at the Head Office to deal with the increased work. The addition of one post of Foreman Class III, 2 of Artisan and 2 of Coolie is necessary for the maintenance and daily preparation of the new Training Area now being constructed at the Argyle Street Training Centre.

The increase in provision under the Uniforms and Accoutrements subhead is due chiefly to the issues of one extra summer shirt to each member of the Civil Aid Services, and of plastic raincapes to Grades I, II and III members of all Units, except the Despatch Service.
