The Assessor and the two Business Tax Inspectors are for the Business Registration Office, taken over from the Department of Commerce & Industry in 1957, and replace an Assistant Assessor and a Tax Inspector Class II respectively. The Motor Driver is for the new departmental car provided under Special Expenditure, mainly for the Entertainment Tax Office and the Business Registration Office. The decrease in the Supernumerary Staff is due to two Assessors Grade II, previously shown as supernumerary and held against vacancies in the establishment of Assessors, being incorporated into that grade. These changes, together with normal increments, account for an increase of $119,800 in the vote for Personal Emoluments.

Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent there is a net increase of $7,100. Under Special Expenditure, provision is made for a new cash receipting machine to replace an old one, and for the purchase of an additional accounting machine for the Business Registration Office. Provision for a car is also included.
