* Approved by Special Warrant during the year.
The Executive Officer is required to take charge of the increasing volume of Head- quarters work on personnel and other duties. Two posts of District Postmaster are provided to take charge of the new District Post Offices at Shamshuipo and Sheung Wan (Western Market.) The growth and complexity of despatches, collections and deliveries have necessitated the appointment of a senior officer in the Mail and Inspectorate sections to co-ordinate duty schedules. The remaining posts are provided to cope with the continual growth of postal traffic and include 19 clerks for the new offices at Shaukiwan, North Point, Sheung Wan and Ma Tau Wai, which will provide full services.
Additional provisions under Other Charges are necessitated by increased business and freight charges on mail. Post Office Boxes, shown in previous years under Special Expendi- ture, are now, as a regularly recurring item of Post Office equipment, included in the provision for Stores and Equipment.
Additional Motor Vehicles have been provided to meet the expanding demands on the mail fleet and to relieve postmen for additional delivery sections.
