Sub-head 12-Rewiring of Government Buildings, $25,000. This sum is required for the replacement of defective and dangerous electrical wiring in Government buildings.

13.—Reinstatement of Government Retaining Walls, $5,000. Provides for

the reconstruction of these walls where and when necessary.

14.--Tset Tsz Mui Quarry-Roofing to mixing plant. New high tension cable and Transformer House, $10,000. The vote covers expenditure neces- sary to protect the new plant recently erected and for transmitting electrical power to the machinery.

15.-Chair & Ricksha Coolie Shelter at Barker Road, $1,500. The provision of this Coolie Shelter meets the urgent requirements at Barker Road Train Station particularly in connection with the provision of conveyances to Victoria Hospital.

16.-Fire Protection at Government Civil Hospital—“A”, “B” and “C” Blocks, $6,750. This vote provides for alternative means of escape from various floors on the above blocks in case of fire and is recom- mended by the C.O.F B.

17.-Rewiring of Alarm Bells at Victoria Gaol, $12,000. The wiring of the Alarm Bell System is rapidly deteriorating and has given cause for complaint by the Prison Authorities. The renewal has become an urgent work.

18.--Removal of Fire Sub Station, Wanchoi, $15,000. Owing to rapid development the removal of the present sub station which is sited on the line of O'Brien Road to a site opposite the old No. 2 Police Station is required.

19.—Bay View Police Station, Hut to accommodate 10 double bunks, $2,500. Covers the cost of erecting a timber hut to house extra police as requested by Hon. I.G.P.

20-Replacing Aerial route by underground telephone cable between Victoria Gap & Gough Hill Police Station, $9,500. This important route is particularly liable to damage during typhoon weather. In order to assure an uninterrupted service an underground cable is necessary.

21. Reconstruction of Bowen Road Conduit-East of Stubbs Road, $3,000. The work under this contract will be completed during 1931 and the sum mainly covers the release of retention money.

22.-Back Lane Service Pipe, $5,000. Provides for the extension to water

service pipes in newly developed properties.

23.--New Principal Mains in City, $15,000. To meet increasing consump- tion it is necessary to extend the larger distributing water mains.

21.-New 8" connecting mains to Shaukiwan, $5,000. This sum is required

to complete the work

25.-Ferry Pier (Western). $1,500. The work was completed during 1931 and this sum is to cover the release of retention money held under the contract.

26.--Construction of a Rubble Mound at North Foint, $20,000. The work prevents dumped materials for reclamation being washed into the Harbour.
