by French, 1884.

Treaty between Brazil and China signed at Tientsin, 1881. Serious riot at Hongkong, 1884. Attack on foreigners at Wenchow, 1884.

French expedition left Chefoo for Corea, 1866. Arrival in Hongkong of Governor Sir

II.R.H. Prince Alfred visited Peking, but not received by the Emperor, 1869. Great

public meeting at Hongkong to consider the increase of crime in the Colony, 1878. Supplementary treaty signed at the Bogue, 1848. Severe gale in Ilongkong, 1878.
