COMPLETE OCCUPATION OF INDO-CHINA BY JAPANESE TROOPS IS DEMANDED: TOKYO DELIVERS ULTIMATUM: ADM. DECOUX Rhineland AND SUMITA REPORTED DISCUSSING Industries PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF TERMS

THE BELIEF THAT EVENTS MAY DEVELOP FAIRLY QUICKLY IN THE FAR EAST MATERIALISED YESTERDAY WHEN JAPAN DELIVERED AN ULTIMATUM TO SAIGON DEMANDING THE COMPLETE OCCU- PATION OF INDO-CHINA BY JAPANESE TROOPS.

THE NEWS WAS CONTAINED IN A REPORT FROM WASHINGTON ACCORDING TO A REUTER MESSAGE FROM LONDON.

THERE IS NO INDICATION OF WHAT STEPS VICHY IS LIKELY TO TAKE IN CONNEXION WITH THE DEMANDS PRESENTED BY TOKYO,

THE ULTIMATUM IS SAID TO EXPIRE TODAY (THURSDAY). ANOTHER REUTER REPORT FROM HANOI STATES THAT. IT WAS OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED THAT THE JAPANESE AMBASSADOR TO VICHY HAD DEMANDED THE USE OF FACILITIES IN SOUTHERN INDO-CHIINA.

NO DETAILS WERE DISCLOSED.
