NERVE

London's millions, bombed night- ly, have proved to the whole world that they can take it. But there are just a few whose nerves have been unequal to the strain. For them, a special medical service is provided.

Here is the first, report by the doctors on the new war, nerves.

A 39-year-old clerk who bo- came a "veritable troglodyte" in the Underground to escape air raids has been receiving treatment in a London hos- 'pital.

He emerged from the Under- ground only to pawn his clothes, watch, and other articles in order to buy food.

His case is quoted in the British Medical Journal by Dr. George Pegge, psychiatrist to the Emer- gency Medical Service, as an èx- ample of one kind of air-rald neurosis noted by doctors since the Intensive bombing of London be- gari.

Dr. Pegge points out that recent cases of air-raid nerves contrast with those of a year ago.
