Singapore Has More Rice Now Than Ever Before

With a monthly expense account of $5 millions, the Malayan Government is buying rice from Thalland, Javà and Burma, which will ensure that Malays will have all the rice it needs and more, at a price which will never reach even a third of the level of prices In the last war, says the Malaya Tribune,

The supply is so great that stocks in the Government Rice Pool godowns have actually "overflowed” and private-owned godowns are being used. There is actually more rice in Singapore now than ever in its history.
