Wednesday, Oct. 23. Silver prices rose 1/18 yesterday for both deliveries, the quotations being 23.1/2 for Ready and 23.7/16 for Forward. Silver advices. re- ported the market as being quiet and featureless. American. Silver was quoted at 34.3/4 for Spot.

The London-New York rate was quoted. at 402.1/2. York-London was quoted at 1/2.

Extremely dull.

After Arining up on dealers covering. Induced by trade enquiry. the market closed quiet.

NEW YORK COTTON: A marketing quota of 12,000,000 bales has been announced, unchanged from previous years. Farmers will vote on the quota in December.

NEW YORK RUBBER: Reserve buying of physicals is reported. CHICAGO WHEAT: Trade shorts were good buyers of near posi- tions. The firm cash position continues to be the strengthen- Ing factor.
