Daughter Of Sir Robert Ho Tung Married

À quiet Chinese society wedding took place at theRegistry`yes- terday morning when DR (MISS) IRENE HO TUNG, daughter of Sir Robert Ho Tint Et LED, and Lady Ho Tung. became the bride of MR. BISLANG-HSIEN TSENG, son of the late Mr. Tseng Loh-chuen and Mrs. Tseng Loh-chuen. of Peiping.

Mr. T. S. Whyte-Smith, Registrave of Marriages officiated and “ the witnesses were Mr. C. C. Liu and Mr. Ho Wing, brother of the brido.

The Chinese wedding ceremony | took place at the Gloucester Hotel yesterday afternoon in the pre- sence of a large and distinguished gathering numbering.. about 300.

CEREMONIAL GOWN The bride, who wore Chinese ceremonial gown, was attended by Misses Phoebe and, Vera Lo, daugh- ters of the Hon. Mr. and Mrs. M. K'Le, as bridesmaids. They wore -Chinese dresses of salmon pink and silver lace and carried sheaves of pink gladioli and maldenheir fern.

Government Is Pursuing Question Of Evacudodgers

following communication was issued from the office of the Colonial Secretary yesterday:-

The Emergency Regulations published in the Government Gazette of September 6, 1940, make it clear that the Government; is determined to implement to the fullest possible degree the instrue- tions received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies in the matier of the evacuation of Bri- -tish women and children,

Frequent requests have in the past few weeks been received for the return to the Colony of evacuated women, and His Excel- lency wishes to make it clear that he is only prepared to consider the use of his permissive powers in entirely exceptional cases.
