The anonymous 14th Century poem,The Pearl," was chosen by Miss Katherine Lat, lecturer in English at the Hongkong Univer- alty, as the subject of a paper which she read to the Hongkong Branch of the English Association at the Helena May Institute yes- terday.
Although Jong. as a thorough criticism must be, the paper was interesting and full of valuable information

The poem, as it was pointed out during the subsequent discussion. is little known, and the hope was expressed that Miss Lai's paper. might stimulate wider reading and better approach to the poem..
