BELT. TIGHTENING

IN GERMANY

NEW YORK, Dec. 18 Reuter)--- In an editorial dealing with the effects of the British blockade. the New York Times says that the

great levelling process in Germany Is beginning to seem more and more like the Soviet economy.

In both countries, the Govern- ments offer their people "Ple in the sky," but lay all the present emphasis upon the necessity for tightening one's belt.

At Leeds numbers of air-rald Wardens have refused to go on duty during the night as a protest against an official instruction that they must not warn householders

An item of interest in the list is a donation of $129 from the Central British School. This represents a sum which would normally have been ex- pended on prizes at this time and which, at the pupils' re- quest, was given to the Fund instead.
