Sterling

There were sellers at 1/2.31/32 December/January and 1/2.15/16 March, probably Abril, buyers at 1/3 Cash and 1/2.31/32 March.

U.S. Dollars

A small business was reported at 24.5/16 for cash. The market closed with sellers at 24.1/4 De- cember, 241/16 January and 23. 15/18 February, buyers at 24.3/8 Cash and probably 24.5/18 Decem- ber.

Shanghal Dollars Opened with sellers at 332: The highest rate touched was 345 and at the close there were sellers at 334.

COTTON: Rather substantial foreign buying was met by In- creased Southern selling and offerings from spot houses. Interest is being centered on the approaching farmers' referendum, which is due on December 9, regarding control of the 1940 crop.

RUBBER: There was some scattered liquidation on a market. Speculative interest was light, but the technical position is belleved to be sound.

No needed relief in the drought sections is indicated. WHEAT:
