British steamers, totalling. 4,133 tons, were sank by German submarines.

The largest was the Hall boat, Geraldus, (2,494 tons) which was sunk off the East Coast, but the whole crew of twenty-six were picked up by a British warship.

SIXTEEN MISSING

The 1,351-ton Darino was sunk cr. Nov, 19; and it is feared that: sixteen of the crew were either killed or drowned. Eleven others landed at an east coast town, after having spent three days in the U-Boat, before they were trans- ferred to an Italian ship

TRAWLER SUNK

The third boat, the Fleetwood trawler Sulby (287 tons) was sunk off the Scottish coast. Seven of her crew of twelve, were rescued. The remainder are missing but may be picked up by a stearner.
