LOSSES IN WAR

PARIS, Oct 31 (Reuter)-3 communique states during the Arst two months of the war France lost six merchantships, totalling 41,000 tons, and during the same period captured" four German ships, one of which was scuttled by, her crew.

The other three ships, totalling 19,000 tons are now being used by the French Mercantile Marine.

Since the start of the War. therefore, the communique says, French losses are 22.000 tons, or about one per cent of her total sea-going power.

LONDON, Oct. 31 (Reuter) Following an explosion the Fin- alsh. steamer Juno sank in the North Sea yesterday within ten minutes A number of the crew of twenty-four, including fve stewardesses, got away in a life- boat, out others were strown 'nto the water and swam for twenty minutes before they were rescued by the Norwegian ship Mimoma which also picked up those in the boat Nineteen of the survivors were landed at an English east-coast port last night
