Silver prices were unchanged over the holiday, the quotations remaining at 22.1/2 for Ready and 221/4 for Forward. Silver advices There reported a small business. Was a little general" selling. The market was quiet. American, Sil- ver was quoted at 35.178 for Spot.

The London/New York cross-rate was quoted at 402, New York/ London was quoted at 403.5/B.

The market was steady."

COTTON: After a rather quiet and dull session the market closed frmer on buying by the Trade, better mill demand, specula- tive buying and firmness on Wall Street, following" receipt of news from Europe indicating rejection by the Allies of the German peace feelers.

RUBBER: The rally was due to combined Commission House buying, and short-covering. The outside market was strong for the first time for two weeks. The London market closed steady. A moderate amount of factory buying was in evidence.

WHEAT: While trading interest is dull, prices firmed up signi- ficantly, refecting better advices from the Argentine, and reports of "" firmness on the Winnipeg market. The prospect of prolonged hostili- ties is also a factor to intensify the demand and raise prices appre 'clably.""
