Satisfactory Year Recorded At Annual Meeting
By appointing a whole-time, paid European manager to take over most of the duties hitherto performed by the Hon. "Secre- tary and the Bar Convener, the Kowloon Cricket Club has taken a step as unique as it is important, in the progress of local sports "clubs. The officer appointed is Mr. G. R, Holloway, and he as-
sumed duties on Oct. 1.
The appointment of such an official was revealed by Mr. Justice R. E. Lindsell, president, in his speech at the Annual General Meeting of the Club held yesterday in the club house. There were over 100 members present.

Mr. Justice Lindsell said the The financial position of the club Club had had a busy year, but not, was very satisfactory. p strikingly eventful one. It was a healthy sign that the member- ship had increased.
In conclusion Mr. Justice Lindsell, reminded the meeting that the apprehensions he had expressed for the future at the last meeting had been justified. War had broken out in Europe, but whatever happens, he know that every member of the Club will do his bit..
He referred, with deep regret, toi the deaths of five members. Messrs LJ. Blackburn, W. J. Edwards, G. E. Dudley P. E. Knight, A. Mặc-| kenzie and E. Webb, during the year under review. There was also the recent death of Mr. W. W. Hirst

At the Annual Meeting of the United Hockey Clubs, held at St. Andrew's Hall, last evening, pre- sided by Mr. L. Tyler, fixtures for the season were arranged and will commence on October 14, at 4 p.m. at the Police ground, when a team selected from the Hongkong side will oppose another from Kowloon side.
