CHUNGKING, Sept. 27 (Reuter) Chinese military authorities show no anxiety regarding the most recent de- velopments on the Hunan front, where the Japanese are making a determined drive towards Changsha, capital of Hunan.

They point out that, from a military point of view, Changsha has little or no importance. The Japanese drive is purely for political reasons and is designed to make an impression at the time of the establishment of the new government at Nanking under Wang Ching wel.

The Chinese forces, it is

They stressed that the fall of Changsha would not effect the outcome of the Chinese war of resistance, as the Chi- nese forces are preparing to waga a decisive battle against the Japanese, in areas where the Japanese will be unable to make use of railways, high- ways, waterways or the level plains.
