on Wednesday when the American Wimble- don Champion, Bobby Biggs. and Ellworth Cook, Wimbledon finalist and the Champion the Men's Doubles, were defeated in a tournament at the sea resort in New Jersey, which was arranged to select the US. team for the Davis Cup Com petition.

Bobby Birg's was beaten 4:6,5:7 by Frank Guernsey, a' youth from Florida, who has never been heard of so" far.

Ellworth Cook was defeated equally easily by 17-year-old Jack Kramer, 3:6,4:6.
