AT PALMER STADIUM

Wooderson Favoured To Beat Cunningham To-day

SYDNEY WOQDERSON, HOLDER OF THE WORLD OUTDOOR RECORDS FOR THE HALF-MILE, THE THREE-QUARTER MILE, AND THE MILE RUNS, will at Princeton University's Palmer Stadium to-day run a mile race in what will probably be a new world re- cord time.

In the peak of condition, Wooderson has within recent weeks run a mile in 4 minutes 7.4 seconds, and 1320 yards in 2 minutes 59.5 seconds, the latter run in time that not only set in discard the amateur re- cord by the Texan Wayne Rideout, but also the pro-' fessional world record effort by France's Jules Ladou- megue in 3 minutes 59.6 seconds.

Wooderson's opponents in the Mile of the Century to-day will be the Kansan record-demolishinig miler, the veteran Glenn Cunning- bam, and the Wisconsin hope, Charlle "Chuck" Fenske.

The field for what promises to be the fastest mile race. In the history of modern track will also include two or three other run- ners, to be chosen from among Louis Zamperini, Archie H. San Romani, Wayne or Blaine Rideout, Gene G. Verzke, Leslie Mac- Mitchell, John, Berican, and Peter B. Bradley,

ZAMPERINI DOUBTFUL,

It is now very doubtful that Louis Zamperini, the Southern California speedster, will compete at Palmer Stadium. The Princeton Invitational Meet, unfortunately, coincides with the National Col- legiate Championship Meet at the Los Angeles Coliseum in far-dway California,

Should Louis Zamperini compete at the Los Angeles Coliseum in preference to El- mer Stadium, it will be not unlikely that two world record breaking mile races will be ran in one day, one a classic of international athletics and the other a classic of inter- collegiate athletics.

Peter Bradley, the Princeton entry, a 4:13.4 miler, is out of his class in the field he will compete with, but Princeton supporters and memories of Tiger Buli Bonthron may sper him on to a Princeten Univer- sity record.
