Sino - British Cultural Association Meeting

Governor's Good Wishes

"

"1 OFTEN THINK THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION TO A NEW WORLD WHICH BE- FALLS ESPECIALLY ON BRITAIN AND CHINA TO MAKE," declared Dr. Han Lih-wu, general secretary of the Sino-British Boxer Indemnity. Fund Committee, speaking at the first general meeting of the Hongkong Branch of the Sino-British Cultural Association, held in the Fung Eing-shan Library of the Hongkong Uni- versity yesterday."

"With the common virtues of love of peace, tolerance, aver- sion to extremes and special care of personal liberty be- tween our two peoples," con- tinued Dr. Han, "I think it is our unique duty and oppor- tunity to contribute to the world a new culture that is different from the present ideologies. It is badly needed and is well worth our highest endeavours:""

Molotov Expected To Announce Soviet's Agreement To The British Draft Proposals

LONDON, May 31 (Reuter)-There is reason to believe, states Reuter's diplo matic correspondent, that the Soviet Foreign Commissar, M. Molotov, will announce the Soviet's agreement to the British draft proposals which, to a large extent, are based on the original Russian offer.
