Dekko Disqualified: Novice Rider Thrown

In spite of conditions that rendered it the most unpleasant Saturday for many weeks past, the opening. day of the Fifth Extra (Whitsun) Race meeting at Happy Valley was quite successful, and, though times were, on the whole, necessarily slow, a number of good finishes were seen, together with one or two satisfying dividends. Considering the circumstances, the orowd present was a large one............

The track, of course, was in very poor condition, even at the start, and the constant showers of rain. during the day naturally made it worse. After the second event the going was getting very heavy and more spills than the single one that occurred would not have been unexpected. ·
