The market opened 3/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.

Early in the morning the market ruled firmer, thus reflecting conditions prevalling in New York. Substantial buying orders for im- mediate delivery were in evidence, whilst dealers and speculators dis- played fair buying interest in futures..

Later in the session prices registered an advance of 1/8 cent for all options on further general buying. Closing tone was very steady. In well informed Rubber circies the opinion prevails that due to continued scarcity of “actuals" the market is likely to show a slowly rising tendency, and that this development may be accelerated with a possible improvement of the European political situation. A polles of conservative accumulation on declines would, therefore, be in- dicated.

Market opened arm on short-covering and trade buying, and closed very steady, with large bustness.

NEW YORK COTTON

The market received further sustenance from higher Bombay and Liverpool cables and opened with higher initial prices. The", continued firmness of the Southern markets provided considerable fil- lip, and prices advanced higher. However, there was a slight reac- tion, probably due to profit-taking later in the day, with a partial $23,70 paring off of the early gains. Still, the undertone was steady on account of the better outlook regarding Washington legislation.

NEW YORK RUBBER

After yesterdays brisk buying, some technical respite was to be expected, and to-day's market provided it. Throughout the day, the market was dull and featureless with most operators keeping on the sidelines.
