Illegal Night Soil Dumping Known To Authorities

URBAN

COUNC

CHAIRMAN SAYS

ALL POSSIBLE STEPS TAKEN

Committee Formed To Study S. D. Estimate Changes

The fact that the Sanitary Department was aware of the practice of legal and indiscriminate fumping of night soil and had taken measures to combat it, was revealed by Mr. R. R. Todd, Chairman of the Urban Counell, when, he replied to a question in that connection put by Mr. B. Wong Tape at the Council's fortnightly meeting yesterday.

It was unanimously agreed at this meeting that "this Coun-" cil, having visited the site of the proposed flush latrine in Lower Lascar Row and having considered the objections raised by the owner of the Central Theatre, as set forth in Messrs. Deacons' "letter of April 13, 1939. to the Hon: Colonial Secretary, is of the opinion that these objections are not valid. The Council re- arms the resolution made at the meeting held on November 8. 1938, as set forth in the Secretary's letter of November 9, 1933, to the Hon. Colonial Secretary."

APPLICATIONS REFUSED The following applications were refused:
