Two Convictions. In Kowloon Court

Li Lau, 30, a machine minder, of the Kai Bản Knitting Factory. at No. 79. Fumk Wuh Street, was sentenced to one month with hard labour and fined $75, in default, another six weeks' imprisonment. when he was convicted by Mr. Q. A. A. Macfadyen as the. Kowloon Court yesterday on charges of lar- ceny of $340, and of giving false information to the police when at 11 p.m. on Sunday night he re- ported a robbery, i which he claimed he had been wounded and the $340 taken.

ANOTHER CONVICTION Another conviction on a charge of giving false information to the police was registered against Chian Sul-bo, 37. described as a rent- collector. The defendant had made a statement to the police to the effect that on Sunday evening he was robbed of $59 by four Chi- nese in Tai Nam Street. His story was that his hands were tied be- hind his back with wire, and, that he had been gagged. He had made his way home, where he was ungagged by his wife, and on, the following day he made a report at the police station

The police disbelieved the story, and subsequent inquiries led to the charge being brought. De- fendant was sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment with hard labour.
