IN THE MOST IMPORTANT MATCH in the Men's Softball League played at King's Park yesterday morning, the Recreio trounced the Canadian Chinese to climb into the league leader- the Midgets and the ship making a triple tie with Chinese Baseball Club. A feature of the game was mány bone- headed plays made by the Canadian Chinese, The Recreio also pulled a couple but fortunately for them they did not quite so much damage.

(FROM OUR OWN CURRESPONDENT) CHUNGSHAN, Fed. 5——A two-day hattle between Chinese and Japanese forces at Talkongling, about 35 miles north of Canton, east of the Canton-Hankow Railway, resulted in the repulsion of the enemy, who were forced to retire southward to Shenkong.

The Japanese left behind scores of dead, while a Chinese non-commissioned officer was klied. Protected by artillery fire, the Japanese infantrymen launched a violent attack on Talkong- ling sa February 1 from Minfeng, according to a communique of the 4th Route Army.
