|NAVY'S SEVEN WICKETS

WIN OVER CLUB

Whitmarsh Unlucky To Miss Century By Single

(By "TAC")

A magnificent fighting first innings, in which he carried his bat and missed scoring a century by a single run and a match-winning second knock, by Captain Whitmarsh, R.M. featured the Triangular Tournament match between the Royal Navy and the Hongkong Cricket Club, by winning which by seven wlekets yesterday the form- ér have annexed the series for this season.

Whitmarsh figured in a sixth wicket stand of 4 with Comman- dar Lees (58), the latter going in when five wickets had fallen for only 40 runs, and in a last-wicket partnership of 45 with P.O. Pax- ton. During this last stand Whitmarah, while hitting anything overpitched, nursed the bowling carefully, but Paxton was caught by Alec Pearce, Gelding close in with the total at 197 and Whit marsh's own score 99.

Going in again 99 iuns in ar- rcars the Club (who had been shot out for 98 on Saturday by Marine Mocres and P. O. Paxton) made a creditable snowing, thanks large- jy, to Harry Owen Hughes and John Pearce. Owen Hughes scored B1 in a captain's tnnings, and Pearce helped, with 42, the pair) figuring in a fifth-wicket stand.

Rugger. Win Over

The Club

One of the most thrilling exhibitions of Rugby football witnessed in many years was seen at Happy Valley on Sa-. turday, when Navy defeated Club in the deciding game in the Triangular Tournament, Navy retaining the Cup for the second year. The final score was 14 points to three.

"Elliott, in Navy's three-quar- ter line, was in his best form and proved a constant source of worry to the Club forwards. Stevens at back likewise gave a grand display with Askwith also much in the limelight.
