Good Shooting Witnessed At
Wednesday's Meeting
'St. Andrew's Day 1938 established a fresh record attendance in the weekly Spoon Shoot, no fewer than 164 getting down to fire u1 200 yards. Unfortunately this number did not get down at 600 yards owing to darkness, although some persevered in trying to fire the Bull in the dark. The last shot was fired at 6 p.m.

Lowly Southampton not only gave Fulhain a fight, but a fright, too! For the first half-hour they were decidedly the better side, with the, halves tackling hard, and the backs, Emanuel and Willams, com. pletely subduing the Fulham wing- ers. Finch and Arnold.
Rooke rarely touched the ball, and when the forwards did have It, a false move usually planted it at the feet of a Southampton de- fender.
Fulham's rock-like defence also faltered, and Keeping was sndly at fault when Southampton scored Briggs, the Southampton inside- left, sent a lung pass down the middle.
Keeping and Tomlinson, the cen- tre-forward, went for it together, but Keeping changed his mind and left it to Turner to clear. By the time the goalkeeper had left his goal. however, Tomlinson had rounded Keeping and shot high into the net.

moves Before were always dangerous. half-time, when Southampton led, Briggs shot a foot wide with only Turner to beat, and then Tomlin- son" passed inside to Bevis, who deftly touched to" Osman, whose. shot skimmed the bar.
Tomlinson often caught Eiles on the wrong, foct, and he might have scored three goals before the inter- val. Twice he hit a post, and on another occasion his shot was stop- ped by a defender on the goal-line. Fulham improved in the second half, but their play was still dis- appointing, passes going wide of the mark, and attackers mostly careering towards their own goal, inatead of getting rid of the ball. Immediately after the interval Fulham forced three corners, and from the third Evans (J.) scored. his header going over a crowd of players, with the goalkeerer at the former beating the Eastern Coun-other end of the goal. ties and the latter overcoming Kent.
