Year's General Figures Better Than In 1937
The Imports and Exports Department (Statistical Branch) re- ports that the combined values of imports and exports of mer- chandise (excluding treasure) as declared during the month of August, 1938 totalled $87.3 millions (£5.4 millions) as compared with $93.1 million (£5.7 millions) in August, 1937.
In terms of local currency the total visible trade of the Colony (excluding treasure) decreased by 6.2 per cent. in August, 1938. as compared with August. 1937; and by 5.3 per cent. in terms of sterling.
Imports of merchandise in March August, 1938 totalled $48.5 millions
(£3.0 millions) as compared with April
