Influenced by easier advices received from London, and New York. the market opened 1/4 of a cent lower for all deliveries as compared with Friday's closing quotations.
Early in the morning the market ruled very quiet, whilst dealers and speculators did not show any interest to operate in view of the impending IRR. Committee's meeting on Monday next. Also the tense political situation in Europe exercised a restraining intuence- A redeeming feature of the market. however, was the continued good demand for "spot" Rubber.
Later in the session the market became steady on news of more hopeful developments in the European political situation. Fair buy- ing interest for trade and speculative accounts caused prices to gradually advance by 1/4 cent for all deliveries, but it was rather difficult to arrange bustness due to the reserved attitude of sellers.
Closing tone was-steady.
It was announced that Malayan dealers' stocks together with stocks at the ports on August 31 amounted to 46,393 tons as against 50,983 tons for July and 49,641 tons for Junë.
