Hospital Opened For Cholera Patients

Germ Can Live In Sea Water

For Over Six Weeks.

The Director of Medical Services (Hon. Dr. P. S. Selwyn-Clarke) announces that a hospital for the treatment of cholera patients has been opened at Laichikok.

Although strict precautions are taken in connection with the dis- infection of human wastes from patients treated in this hospital, il is difficult to be absolutely certain that no living cholera germs may And their way into the sea in the neighbourhood of Laichiknk beach, at any rate for the time being.

Needless to say every effort is being taken by the hospital äu- thorities to minimise this danger.

The medical authorities considel it desirable that the attention of the general public should be in- Tited to the fact that Laichikok bathing beach lies within the har- bour limits. In other wonds, per-

LEADER OF THREE DARING RAIDS

Canton, August 5.

Wu Fa, a captain of the Chinese militia on San Cho Island, who led three daring attacks on the Jap- anese occupying the islands off the Chungshan coast, has arrived here to report to General Wu Te-chen, Chairman of the Kwangtung Provincial Government, and General Yu Han-mon, Pacification Commissioner for Kwangtung.

Robust and swarthy, Wu was & farmer in the Chungshan d'strict before the outbreak of hostilities. After the Japanese occupation of San Cho Island and other islands off the Chungshan const, he joined the militia corps and was made a captain. He led three attacks on the Japanese-(Central News),
