show that the team was obviously chosen more on a representative basis than on the merits of the 11. Burson and L. W. Hume -individual players. As 1 result there was little or no understand- ing between the infield, resulting

in several costly errors being made.

The Chinese, on the other hand. played brilliant baseball. Their outfield were in the limelight with some magnificent catches, and it was a treat to see them "steal") bases, especially "Nip" Lum, who fully lived up to his name.

Slinger Ear! Wong was in ne form, striking out 8 batters and blanking the Rest for the first four frames.

r.

Pereira pitched a good game but, was unfortunate to find the Chi- nese in good batting form.

On Sunday morning," playing against a much stronger team, mainly from the Mindanao, the champions were beaten to the tune of 7 to 5. Both teams showed good batting form and some heavy hita were registered, one of which was clouted over the fence for a homer by Douglas.

The Chinese made several post- tional changes. "Nip" Lum started on the mound and was later re- lleved by Ching who previously did duty behind the plate.

The Indian battery: the Arculli brothers, did duty, throughout for the Rest.

After tralling in the first four frames the Rest forged ahead in the fifth canto when they crossed the plate on three occasions to take the lead which they never relinquished.

Although the baseball season has officially ended, the League, com- mittee hopes to stage a number of games before they hand buck the ground to the Naval authori ties. Should any American vessel touch this “port we will probably see the much discussed All Hong Kong Star team against the visitors and it will be interesting to see how our local lads will fare.
