SIR JOHN SIMON IS SINGLED OUT FOR CRITICISM
Britain's Refusal To Grant Loan To China Causes. Deep Disappointment
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE LEAGUE RESOLUTIONS STRESSED
11
Hankow, July 17.
CHINESE CIRCLES HERE REFLECT deep disappointment at the announcement made in the House of Commons on Thursday by Sir John Simon, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to the effect that the British Government will not introduce legislation for the loan to China. Thus the hopes which have been running high for the past few weeks of the loan from Britain have been dashed to the ground and Sir John Simon singled out for bitter criticism.
THE HANKOW HERALD, IN A LEADER entitled "Sir John Simon's Logic" urges Britain to consider her own interests by taking positive-steps to help China and also to remember the significance of the League of Nations' resolutions urging member States to give every possible assistance to China.
The Wahan Daily Neys, the official Kuomintang organ, in a leader says, Britain's refusal to China's request. for a British Loan, must be viewed with the keenest disappointment not only by China
