VIOLENT FIGHTING ON

THE TERUEL FRONT

LOYALISTS BLOW UP BUILDINGS

BEFORE RETREAT FROM SARRION

Castellon, July 14. Violent fighting is continuing on the Teruel front where the Na- tionalists have launched a new large-scale offensive. The National- ists have concentrated extremely strong forces for the offensive and are employing more war material than ever before.

Nationalist military circles estimate the strength of Republican troops on the Teruel front at 28 brigades, with 33,000 men, including the 65th Brigade, considered as a crack upit.

The brigade is known under the name of "Sons of Miaja" and enjoys the special confidence of the Republican army command.

Nanchang is strongly defended on all sides, with two aerodromes elaborately equipped with dag-outs capable of protecting fifty planes,

Poyang Lake, at the northern extremity of Anhui province, has been heavily mined in order to prevent Japanese naval operations, while.. an excellent network of highways assures speedy munication with all points outside the city.
