Attempted Suicides Total. Eighty-Eight

A serious increase in the number of attempted suicides during the month is reported in the report of April issued by the Lester Chinese Hospital, fifty-four women and thirty-four men harint been treated at the Hospital alter unsuccessful endeavours to end their lives.

This represents an increase of nearly 50 per cent. over the pre- vious month.

pressure. many patients of the refugee type being brought in suffering from beri-berl and ather deficiency diseases. Typhus continues in an epidemic form.

Outpatients visiting the hospital: numbered 19,913, and there were 571 inpatients admitted. The number of inpatient bed days was 8.405. Inpatient operations total-
