New Record Set By Strathroy In Albury Handicap

The defeat of Skylight by Desert Chief afd Bear Claw-the record run by Strathroy in the Albury Handicap when it clocked 1.44.2 to beat the previous best of 1.45 set up by Saucy Face-the bandsome dividend, of $121.60 by Racing Boy for a place bet-these were the outstanding features of the second day of the Third Extra Race Meeting held at Happy Valley yesterday,

Mr. Donald Black had a very good day, riding Salvage Master and Strathroy to win in great style. In the Easter Stakes the main event of the day, Desert Chief was ridden in "great style by Mr. Encarnacao to Balsh first. Skylight, the Derby winner, conceded the best chance for second position. was beaten for that place by Bear Claw which for just a fraction of a second even threatened the winner.

POKFULAM HANDICAP

The racing on the whole was very good though in two of the events, including the big race of the day, the fields were very small. Only 79 punters spotted the winners in the Daily Double-New Star and Dekko-and they each received $83.70 for their $5 investment.
