VAN ZEELAND

To Discuss Results Of Trade Inquiry* With Premier

CURRENCY PACT?

London, Jan. 6.

M. Paul van Zeeland, former Belgian Frime Minister and famous economist, arrived in Lon

don this morning. When

ques-

tioned regarding the report that he was visiting London to discuss the question of a currency part em- bracing Britain, America, France, Germany and Italy, M. van Zeer land shook his head and declined to answer.

The Belgian economist is ex- pected to stay in London for two days, when he will see the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, and Treasury officials to discuss the resulta of his mission to dis- cover new means of encouraging International trade. It is not yet known whether he will pre- sent "his report to the British Government while he is here. It is considered more probable that he will confine himself to a dis- cussion-of points arising out-of-his- mission, and that the report itself will be presented simultaneously to the British and French govern ments, *

Meanwhile all forecasts of the contents of the report should be treated with the greatest reserve.
