CHINESE ELEVEN TOO GOOD FOR

THE ASSOCIATION

Fung King-Cheung's Classic Display

The Christmas Day charity football match between the Hong Kong Football Association and the Hong Kong Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation, played at Caroline Hill on Saturday, saw, the Federation team win by four goals to one after a "game alternating” between" brilliance and

mediocrity.

41

The outstanding cause of the Association's defeat was poor half-back play and bad position- ing, the Chinese gaining many opportunities in the way while mis-directed passes threw far too heavy a burden on the shoulders of Ulrich and Hussain, the full-backs.

In addition, the Chinese forwards were in fine form and it is probable that if they had not been offered openings, as happened on several occasions, they would have made them.

They played with much more sa- surance and polish than their op- posite numbers, never wasting the ball through being over-enthusias- ut. nor showing any hesitation in

I was a splendid victory for the Welsh, as the margin of three goals could hardly be expected as the Infantrymen possessed a seem- ingly better forward line. But the remarkable individual display of Bruton created a mild surprise caused by his scoring of all the four goals.
