Torpedo-Boat Rescues Freighter

Paris, Nov. 8. How the French torpedo-boat "Garfaut " saved the. French | freighter “La'Corse" from destruc- tion, is told in the Parts news- papers.

The freighter was stopped by the two mysterious planes at northernmost point of the Catalan coast.

The crew were signalled to aban- don ship, and immediately they had left the planes dropped several bombs, all of which missed their mark.

London, Nov. 6. The text of the Air Raid Precau- tions Bill designed to define the position and power of the local authorities in connection with the schemes for protection of the public from air attacks is publish- ed.

The scheme which the local au- thorities will be required to under- take will include provision for storage and housing of equipment, Instracting of the public, protec- tion of buildings, repair of roada, clearance of debris, first aid ar- rangements, detection of poison gas, decontamination work, street lighting. air raid warnings, fre precautions and public shelters.

The estimated cost of the schemes contemplated will amount to about £32,000,000 with an an- nual expenditure of under £10,- Delight,060.000.
