The present outbreak of 'civil war, endemic in Spain for the. last century or so, is said to be reaching a turning-point. This vagus phrase is used by both parties, as it has the effect, if not repeated too often, of encouraging troops to “carry on." We shall probably hear of other turning-points until either the effect of the phrase wears thin or the war itself reaches its inconclusive end by sheer exhaustion on both sides.
