There remains a few of the an- nual festial matches such as those at Scarborough in which H. D. G. Leveson Gower's teams will oppose the M.C.C. Australian XI and the New Zealanders. At Folkestone an Over Thirty v. Under Thirty match | Barnsley starts to-day. At Gainsborough Blackburn the,, Minor Counties representative team meets the New Zealanders.

Cricket during the past three days was of a characteristically hollday nature. At the Oval Surrey and Sussex accumulated 1.236 rung. At Folkestone an England XI and New Zealanders aggregated 1,263 runs in a drawn match. At Scarborough Yorkshire and the M.C.C. amassed 1,029 runs In a match which the champions won by eight wickets.

Three centuries were stored" In In Surrey first innings against Sussex. The "innings realised 495. Sandham scording 102. Gregory 124 and E.R.T. Holmes 115.

Sussex were out for 214 in the first knock and 403 in the second. Surrey obtained the required 124 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Three-figure innings were also plentiful in the New Zealanders' match. Bryan H. Valentine. the Kent amateur, who has spent most of the summer playing com- petitive tennis, produced his best form to

take 102, off the New Zealanders' attack. The England XI scored 484.

New Zealanders replied with 431, Kerr contributing 112 and Moloney 140.

The home side" declared their second innings closed at 188 for 8. and the New Zealanders were well on the way to victory when play was brought to a close, having scored 182 for 2.

Yorkshire scored 316 and 201 for
