RAILWAY MERGER
Paris, Sept. 1. The merger of private railway companies and State railways is provided by a decree issued to- day, The State will hold 51 per cent of the stocks and appoint persone to high positions on con- trol but will have no majority on the board of directors.
The merger is a compromise be-
tween the Socialists who wanted full State control and the Rightists who demand Government super- vision.
