First editions of modern authors -many specially inscribed "and autographed were sold by auction
the Mansion House recently, in aid of the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases.
The Lord Mayor. Sir George Broadbridge, himself auctioned He first two lots, the "Lincoln Tri- logy," by the American author. Honore W. Morrow, which fetched- two guíneas, and three autograph- ed volumes by C. R. Acton, which were bought for four guineas.
Signed Brst editions of Lloyd George. "Winston Churchill, W. W. Jacobs, Somerset Maugham, Max Beerbohm. P. B. Wodehouse, Bleg fried Basson, H. G. Wells, Earl Baldwin of Bewdley. Noel Coward. Lord Tweedsmult and Maurice Bring subsequently came under the hammer of Mr. A. J. Baker, of Knight, Frank and Rutley.
