SEQUEL

Charges of common assault on Mrs. E. M. Gastro and wilful and mal clous damage to the front door of her residence at No. 14. Knutsford Terrace, Kowloon, were preferred against Wong Chun- ching, when he appeared before Mr. K.-M. A. Barnett at the Kow- loon Magistracy yesterday. 7

It was alleged by the prosecution that defendant went to the address in question to collect a sum of $1.80 from Mrs. Hodge, sister of complainant, at 8.30 am on Sun- day. When he falled to obtain the sum because Mrs. Hodge

had ordered him away for it was too early defendant rang the bell and banged on the door vigorously.

"We asked him to wait but he refused" sald Mrs. Castro in the witness box.. "We then asked for the return of the 1.0.U and he also refused." Complainant con- tinued that her sister had already returned the pillow slips which she bought for that sum and defendant had agreed to accept them,

to

Defendant had apparently re- fused to leave the front door and had put h's foot in between prevent Mrs. Castro from closing it. It was then alleged that defen- dant assaulted Mrs. Castro by pushing her to the floor. Even- tually an Indian constable arrived and took defendant back to the station where he was charged.

Corroborative evidence was given by Mr. Castro and Mrs. Hodge.

On the first charge defendant was bound over and ordered to pay $10 amends to complainant. On the second charge he was fined 850 or two months' imprisonment and was ordered to pay $5 amends for damage to the door.
