JOHN MEADE'S WOMAN
}
A. gripping story of a love that turned to hate and then to love again brings Edward Arnold to the screen again in the role of an in- dustrial Croesus' who thought he could buy a woman's heart with gold, in "John Meade's Woman," which has its run at the Queen's Theatre to-day.
Starring opposite him is
the intriguing Francine Larrimore, noted stage star, who makes her initial motion picture appearance in this drama.
Arnold, rich and ruthless in.. dustrialist, ts engaged to Gall Patrick, a society beauty who in- tends to marry him for his money. She is really in love with eldney Blackmer, who is of her own class. Arnold accidentally meets Miss Larrimore, a country girl trying to make a go of it in the big city. and becomes interested in her When he discovers the affair be- tween Miss Patrick and, Blackmer, he marries Miss Larrimore, merely to humble the high-born beauty. Miss Larrimore really loves Amold. and when the time comes when he tells her why he married her and offers to pay her for it, she is beartbroken. "She returns to the land from whence she arose, spurn- ing Arnold's gifts and proffers of ald. The love she bore him turns to a fierce and burning hatred.
Also in the brillaint cast are George Bancroft. John Trent, Jonathan Hale, Stanley Andrews and many others.

DUKE OF WINDSOR
To Retain Former Ranks
London, June 12. An unofficial report" published in London to-day, that the Duke of Windsor was to be reduced in seniority in all the Oghting Ser- vices, drew a quick reply from afi- cia! quarters.
The reply, which is authorita- tive, states that the former King retains the ranks of Admiral of the Fleet, Field-Marshal and Air Marshal
་!
It is added, however, than when he abdicated, he automatically lost his special seniority in these ranks, which was his as King.
Thus the Duke's seniority in each of the fighting forces dates from the day of his assumption of the ranks, January 21, 1936.-. Reuter.

This year's camp is being held from July 31 to August 7, and His Majesty will, it is hoped, spend a full day during the week at camp.
In the past, on several occasions as Duke of York, he spent the night under canvas with the boy's but this year it is expected that His Majesty will only be able to spend the day with them.--- British Wireless,
