LARGE INCREASE IN". CLAIMS REPORTED
China Underwriters Hold Annual Meeting
The thirteenth annual general meeting of China Underwriters Lid was held at 4A. Des Voeux Road Central, yesterday: Mr. A. L. Shields. Chairman of the Board of Directors, presided.
Claims at $62,243, said Mr. Shields, showed a very larze In- crease on those shown in the previous year owing to two compara- tively, large total losses.
The Chairman said:--
Before proceeding with the re- gular business of the Meeting. the Directors wish me to express their regret at the death of Mr. C. A. da Roza, who has been a Member of the Consulting Committee and the Board of Directors since the com- mencement of the Company, and has or. more than one occasion acted as Chakman.

In the Lite Assurance Depart ment annual premiums at $804,477 are about the same as last year. and we have in addition received consideration for annuities of $20.-
