Regulars and Territorials are all wearing their blue kit for the first time to-day, And very smart it looks; blue serge jackets cut closer to the figure than were the khaki ones, blue trousers with red stripes, the now blue caps with their slightly larger peaks,
The Scottish troops have blue jackets with their kilts or tartan trews.
The only exception among the lines of troops in blue are the London Scottish, wearing
drab "uniforms; and the Rifle regiments in their traditional green.
Khaki has been descrted-except by the contingents sent here from overseas. „,”
The wide circus round the memorial, to Queen Victoria outside the Palace Gates rings with cheers as the State Coach emerges.
Gold-painted stands, edged with red,, cover the steps of the memortal and stretch on either side beyond the roadway: The stands down the Mall are galvanized into a mighty roar as the Coach moves on its way down an avenue of red-covered poles, each surmounted by a golden crown.
Down Whitehall, past the great offices of State and the Cenotaph, the buildings are splashed with decorations of gold and silver, red and blue, and banked with masses of flowers of every colour.
