things that are gone to decay," Next the Stole and Imperial Man- tle; the Orb with the Cross upor it reminding the King that "the whole world is subject to the pow-

er

and empire of Christ our Redeemer." Then the Archbishop places on the fourth finger of the King's right hand the Ring, "en- sign of kingly dignity and of de- fence of the Catholic Faith." the King's gloved right hand is placed the sceptre with a cross, the sceptre with the Dove or "Rod of Equity" in the left hand.

In

And now the Monarch, thus in- vested with all other ensigns of au- thority, bows his head to receive the greatest, the Grown; at which moment"the people "with loud and repeated shouts, cry, 'God save the King!" the peers put on their coronets, the trumpets sound, and the guns outside thunder a salute. "Be strong arid play the man," sings the choir.

"OUR" GRACIOUS KING” Lastly comes the presentation of the Bible with the words. "Our gracious King: we present you with this Book, the most valuable thing this world affords. Here is wis dom this is the royal law; these are the lively Oracles of God."

Thereafter, the King receives the Archbishop's threefold blessing, and, while "Te Deum" is sung, is placed upon the Throne. This is followed by the fealty of the bishops and the homage of, the nobles, now much, shortened but still a very affecting ceremony, the first of each order touching the King's crown and kissing his cheeks. At the close, the drums beat, the trumpets sound, and the people shout again.

At this point comes the Corona- tion of the Queen, who, after she is anointed, receives the Queen's Ring on the fourth finger of her right hand and upon her head a

crown. In her right hand is placed the sceptre, and in her left hand the Ivory Rod with the Dove. When ahe has been conducted to her own throne, the Communion Service proceeds.
